EU choppers, a risk or an opportunity?

Historically some farmers in North America are hesitant to purchase European forage harvesters. Europe is far away; can you trust what you see on internet; what is the history of this machine; my local dealer hesitates to service a European machine. Who can I contact for the shipment, custom paperwork, import licences etc. Shall I wire so much money overseas; does my bank support this? I want to finance my investment but my lender terms cannot support an overseas investment.

Forage Harvester 4 largest brands:

The 4 largest original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) for self-propelled forage harvesters (SPFH) develop and manufacture in Europe. The factories off each OEM are located for;

  • John Deere in Zweibrücken, Germany:
    John Deere® and JD® are registered trademarks of Deere & Company, which has manufactured, but not distribute or endorse our used SPFH.

  • Claas in Harsewinkel, Germany:
    Claas® is a registered trademark of Claas KGaA, MBH, which has manufactured, but not distribute or endorse our used SPFH.

  • Krone in Spelle, Germany:
    Krone® is a registered trademark of Bernard Krone Holding GmbH & Co., which has manufactured, but not distribute or endorse our used SPFH.

  • New Holland in Zedelgem, Belgium:
    New Holland® is a registered trademark of CNH Industrial America, LLC, which has manufacture, but not distribute or endorse our used SPFH.

John Deere®, Claas®, New Holland® and Krone® develop and manufacture all their choppers in Europe, each brand concentrates the manufacturing in one factory. One of the reasons to concentrate manufacturing is that SPFH are a niche product, the opposite of mass production. Production numbers are not published in detail, but experts assume that between 1000 and maximum 3000 new SPFH are produced each year. There is no doubt that it is in the OEM’s interest to develop SPFH in such a way that; all parts, software and service can be used worldwide. Globalization has reached the agricultural heart of North America, which benefits your local OEM dealer when servicing your investment.

Restrictions by law: we will not import used forage harvesters that fall under the clause Inv. No. 337-TA-487 of the International Trade Commission, in particular John Deere 5000 and 6000 series. Read more
